successful decoy tactics

     Decoys can make or break a hunt! Put a full strutter decoy out at the wrong time and You might as well bring a coyote decoy. There is a time and place for the full strutter but, I believe the best decoy setup for successful hunts in the spring is a quarter or half strut jake and a laydown hen. This combo is deadly sometimes ill throw in a feeding hen 10 or 12 yards to the side away from where I'm expecting the tom to come from this works wonders. I always make sure my laydown hen is visible by clearing grass or brush I want her to stick out. Getting towards the end of the season is where I will  leave that jake in the truck and just run 1 or 2 hens a feeder and a upright hen this seems to have a better affect on those late season birds. Hopefully all of this will help you fill a couple tags this spring.
